Summary
This is a 220 kV, AC - Double circuit interconnection line and is100 km long on the Egyptian side and about 70km on the Sudanese side. The construction of the line is already completed and the parties are negotiating the agreements between Egypt and Sudan for power trading. The project is divided into two phases as follows: (i) In the 1st phase: 50 MW will be transmitted through the line from Egypt to Sudan (ii) In the 2nd phase: the transmission capacity will reach 300 MW after installing STATCOM devices on the Sudanese side and it is expected to be finalized by the mid of 2021
Description

Construction of a 500kV high voltage transmission line and associated Substation or Converter station that connects the power networks of Egypt and Sudan to facilitate trading in electricity and promote power systems stability. The project comprises the update of project studies.
