<p>Construction of Mozambique section approximately 218 km of the 400 kV Mozambique-Malawi transmission interconnector.</p>
Description

<p>The project entails the construction of a 218&Acirc; km, being 142 km at Mozambique side and 76 km at Malawi side,&Acirc; 400 kV (initially to be operated at&Acirc; 220 kV) power line from Matambo substation, in Mozambique, to Phombeya, north of Malawi's commercial capital, Blantyre. The first assignment will involve the design, supply and installation of the 400 kV overhead transmission line from the Mozambique-Malawi border to Phombeya substation including construction of the landing bay at 400kV Phombeya substation related to the Malawian side. The second&Acirc; assignments include extension/ upgrading of Matambo substation form 220 kV to 400 kV&Acirc; and upgrading of SCADA systems (EDM) related to Mozambique side.</p>

Description

<p>The project entails the construction of a 200 km, 400 kV(initially 220 kV) power line from Matambo substation, in Mozambique, to Phombeya, north of Blantyre. The first assignment will involve the design, supply and installation of the 400 kV overhead transmission line from the Mozambique-Malawi border to a new substation at Phombeya. The second assignment will entail the design, supply and installation of the new 400 kV Phombeya substation. Other assignments include extension of Matambo substation (Mozambique) and upgrading of SCADA systems (EDM).</p>

<p>The Mozambique-Zambia Interconnector will consist of a high voltage transmission line from Chipata 330/132/33 kV substation to the proposed Cataxa substation in Mozambique. The transmission voltage will either be 330 kV or 400 kV. The total line length is estimated at 286 km of which 77 km is in Zambia and the rest in Mozambique.</p>
