Construction of the 76 km / 330 kV Pandamatenga to Victoria Falls section of the ZiZaBoNa transmission interconnector, i.e. Zimbabwe-Zambia-Botswana-Namibia. The construction of an interconnector aims to provide high power transmission to in order to relieve congestion on the SAPP grid supply power to the growing demand of Namibia.
Description

<p>ZiZaBoNa creates a new Western Transmission Corridor in Southern Africa, by linking the power systems of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia. This part of the project involves the construction of a 76 km / 330 kV transmission interconnector from Pandamatenga Substation (Botswana) to Victoria Falls Substation (Zimbabwe), with a transmission capacity of 300 MW.</p>

Summary
The IXP project is to keep in local internet communication local. It aims at building the technical capacity of the beneficiary country in managing Internet Exchange Point and to provide, when necessary, equipment needed for the establishment of the Internet exchange point.
Description

<p>The AXIS Project aims to facilitate the development of an African internet infrastructure through policy and regulatory reform, capacity building and technical assistance. Development of an African internet infrastructure refers to the establishment of regional internet exchange points (IXPs) and internet carriers.</p>

<p>The AXIS Project is being implemented through two phases. Phase I consists of capacity building to support the establishment of national IXPs through providing a series of two workshops for stakeholders and the Internet Service Provider Association (ISPA) on  I) best practice and benefits of IXP and II) technical assistance through workshops which will cover the technical and administrative skills needed to set up, operate, and administer an IXP.</p>

<p>Phase II focuses on supporting establishment of Regional IXP and Regional Internet Carrier through provisioning Capacity building workshops on best practice and benefits of setting up RIXP/IC and providing technical assistance.</p>

<p>The AXIS Project is a flagship project of the African Regional Action Plan on Knowledge Economy (ARAPKE) endorsed by the African Union Executive Council.</p>

<p>Construction of the Zimbabwe section of the 320 km/ 400 kV South Africa to Zimbabwe transmission interconnector which forms part of the total 935 km project across three countries, namely Mozambique, Zimbabwe and South Africa.</p>
Description

<p>The project will establish a second transmission interconnector between South Africa and Zimbabwe, enhancing the wheeling capacity of the Central Transmission Corridor by 1500 MW. The Zimbabwean section stretches from the South African border to Plumtree in the Matabeleland region of&Acirc; Zimbabwe, close to the border with Botswana.</p>
<p>The second transmissioninterconnector between South Africaand Zimbabwe will increase theZimbabwean wheeling capacity,unlocking bottlenecks for the benefitof the sub-utility companies in theregion. The project will enhance thetransfer capacity from the north tothe south, which will unlockgeneration project development inMozambique, leading to excesscapacity to enable improved trade inthe region.</p>

<p>The Harare-Nyamapanda road is part of the Regional Trunk Road Network (RTRN Link NR 25) as well as the Trans-African Highway NR 9 and the rehabilitation of Marehwa-Nyamapanda is a section of this project, which covers a distance of 172km.</p>
